"Tethering was, and always will be, a risky business which is expensive to do and ties up two business tools to do the same thing," according to Rose Li. "Thankfully wholesale mobile phone makers have come up with a way to get around that."

Chinavasion's Rose Li said EDGE modems and the EDGE network was head and shoulders above other wireless connection options available to laptop users as EDGE modems were easy to set up and data downloads were a fraction of the cost of traditional wireless internet plans.
